The Travel Corporation is merging its Insight Vacations and Costsaver brands into Trafalgar, a move designed to simplify operations and increase the brand’s market presence. TTC Tour Brands executives argue that a single operator can offer more choice than three separate ones. Trafalgar will maintain five distinct travel styles, including tours, small groups, river cruises, rail journeys, and groups, while operating under a new three-tier pricing system. Apollo Funds’ recent acquisition of the parent company has further motivated this strategic realignment, with the private equity firm explicitly deciding to double down on Trafalgar as the primary focus for future growth.
Shifting the Brand Structure
Insight’s itineraries will be sold as “premium,” while the current Trafalgar portfolio will be labeled “classic” and Costsaver’s will be marketed as “saver.” TTC will start rolling out marketing changes in the fourth quarter, and the phaseout of the premium Insight Vacations and budget Costsaver brands will be gradual. They will continue to operate as individual brands underneath Trafalgar in 2027. TTC has not established a firm date for the sunsetting of Insight and Costsaver. Deputy CEO and chief sales officer Melissa DaSilva said the company was eyeing 2028 for their official retirement.
Advisor Perspectives and Product Changes
Travel advisors have responded to the announcement with mixed but generally positive feedback. Craig Pavlus, founder of Pavlus Travel & Cruise, stated that simplifying the sale of these three brands under one umbrella is a good idea, particularly with the new three-tier pricing structure. Johnnie Herring of Vincent Vacations noted that Trafalgar is a brand many clients already know, and moving Insight under the Trafalgar premium tier will make meeting with clients easier since everything will now be listed under one name.
