Journey Beyond’s Sailaway Port Douglas has launched a new package that allows visitors to experience two UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites in one day. The Rainforest to Reef package pairs the Daintree’s Mossman Gorge with the outer Great Barrier Reef, both located in Far North Queensland.
The full-day itinerary departs Port Douglas at 9am and returns at 6:30pm, and includes a guided tour of Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre and a sailing trip to the outer Great Barrier Reef. A shorter option, the Rainforest to Sunset Sail, is also available for clients with limited time.
The day begins with a 90-minute Mossman Gorge Ngadiku Dreamtime Walk, led by local Kuku Yalanji Indigenous guides. The walk includes a visit to a sacred ceremony site and a demonstration of soap and ochre paint-making, as well as bush tea and damper.
This walk is a significant part of the package, as it marks its 40th anniversary in 2026. The Daintree Rainforest is home to an incredible array of plant and animal species, with just one hectare able to support over 30,000 species.
In the afternoon, visitors will embark on a 5.5-hour Sailaway tour to Low Isles, a coral cay. The tour includes three hours on the island, a nature walk, a guided snorkel with a marine guide, and a solar-electric glass-bottom boat for those who prefer to stay dry.
Sailaway Port Douglas is an Advanced Eco-Certified reef operator, offering small-group sailing and snorkelling experiences to Mackay Coral Cay, Low Isles, and sunset sails. This eco-credentialled option is ideal for clients who want to experience the reef without the crowds.

The one-day format of the package is suitable for time-poor domestic travellers, families, and inbound visitors who want to combine reef, rainforest, and Indigenous culture in a single booking. Both packages offer child and family pricing, making it an attractive option for families.
Journey Beyond executive general manager sales and partnerships Alicia Triggs notes that the new package perfectly blends the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef and the lush Daintree Rainforest into a one-day, all-inclusive package.
Alicia Triggs adds that guests can experience the best of Tropical North Queensland and discover three worlds – reef, rainforest, and Indigenous culture – all while connecting with the rich traditions of the Traditional Owners.
The full-day Rainforest to Reef package is priced at $495 per adult, $325 per child, and $1,455 per family. The half-day Rainforest to Sunset Sail is $240 per adult, $175 per child, $105 per infant, and $740 per family.
The package is an easy add-on for travel advisors building Far North Queensland itineraries, and the eco-certification and Kuku Yalanji-led cultural element will appeal to clients seeking responsible, culture-led travel. They will find the half-day option provides a lower price point for shorter Port Douglas stays, making it an attractive option for a range of travellers, including those interested in sustainable tourism practices.
It is a great way to experience the region’s unique environments.
