Singapore Airlines and Scoot have cut the cost of award flights for June 2026, offering up to 30% fewer KrisFlyer miles on certain routes. The deal, called “Spontaneous Escapes,” covers Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class seats on the carrier, along with 15% off Scoot award redemptions. It targets the June holiday window, a period airlines often try to fill with discounted fares.

Reduced miles for popular destinations

Travelers can book one-way flights to several popular destinations at reduced mileage rates, including Bali, Bangkok, Seoul, and Perth.

Fine print and restrictions

Government tourism departments have historically viewed such promotions as a way to boost visitor numbers during shoulder seasons, according to a source familiar with regional travel policy. But some analysts caution that the limited seat inventory may reduce the actual benefit for many travelers. “The headline discount looks attractive, but the real test is whether customers can actually book the seats they want,” said one industry observer who asked not to be named.

Scoot’s 15% discount on Economy awards adds a budget option for shorter regional hops. The low-cost carrier is offering the reduction on select routes, though it did not publish a full destination list in the announcement.

How the numbers stack up

The one-way mileage rates for Singapore Airlines under the promotion:

      • Bali (Denpasar): 5,600 miles Economy, 15,400 miles Business
      • Bangkok: 9,100 miles Economy, 17,500 miles Business
      • Seoul (Incheon): 17,850 miles Economy (Business not listed)
      • Perth: 14,350 miles Economy (Business not listed)

Business Class awards for Bali and Bangkok represent a significant per-mile discount compared to standard rates, which often exceed 20,000 miles for similar routes. Whether that counts as a “sweet spot” depends on how many seats the carrier actually releases at the discounted level.

The promotion is limited to KrisFlyer members.

Miles must be in the account at the time of booking. The airline notes that these awards cannot be combined with upgrade vouchers.

Shoulder season strategy

June sits between the peak spring and summer travel periods in much of Southeast Asia. Airlines regularly use mileage discounts to fill planes during these slower weeks. The strategy also helps local tourism economies. A spokesperson from the Singapore Tourism Board has previously said lower fare costs encourage longer stays and higher spending at local businesses, though the board did not directly comment on this specific offer.

Travelers who plan to use miles for premium cabins should check availability early. The best seats tend to go first. One-way bookings can give more flexibility if only one leg is available at the reduced rate.

For those willing to lock in plans, the deal opens up routes that are usually more expensive in miles. Perth and Seoul, for example, are long-haul destinations from Singapore that rarely see such discounts outside of seasonal sales.
