Watch collecting is becoming more popular by the year with more luxury brands on the market. It is obviously important to buy a brand that you would enjoy wearing but when spending over five thousand pounds on a watch you would also like it to be a solid investment that with have a strong re-sale value. Some brands appreciate better than others so we’re going to look at some of the best brands in terms of value going forward. If you’re on the lookout for a premium timepiece, there is a shopping centre in Leeds with a few good stores to browse in.
Rolex
Without doubt the most well-known watch brand in the world, Rolex is seen as a brand to aspire to and spends billions every year sponsoring well thought out events to ensure their brand stays luxury. You will frequently seem them as the official time sponsor at events like tennis majors, golf majors and in Formula 1. Rolex is also known to be one of the best watch brands in terms of not only retaining their value but increasing over time, this isn’t applicable to all models but there are some that can make you a lot of money on your initial investment. For example, from 2022 to 2023 the Submariner and Cosmograph Daytona models went up in value by 2.7% and 2.9% respectively. The biggest increase was the Rolex Day Date in White Gold which increased by a whopping 11.3% in only a year.
Patek Philippe
Patek Philippe are up there with the likes of Rolex in terms of notoriety and the price point of the watches. Patek Philippe have tended to go a different way with marketing, focusing on product placements in films, TV shows and with certain actors to keep their brand luxury. Due to the exclusivity of their timepieces they do very well in terms of value with certain models doubling their value and going up in price by hundreds of thousands of pounds. Only Rolex watches beat Patek Philippe when it comes to re-sale value.
Hublot
A relative newcomer to the luxury watch market, Hublot don’t have the best of reputations amongst watch collectors, they are seen as the garish, brash, influencer style watches rather than classical timepieces. It is considered that their watches are very overpriced for the mechanism and raw materials used. The Hublot marketing policy has always been focused on sports, they sponsor events (although not the kind of events that Rolex do) and also get sportsmen to wear them. You’ll find the likes of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal wearing Hublot watches whilst playing. So how does this affect the re-sale value? Not very well! Unfortunately Hublot watches rarely go up in value unless they are special edition and most of the time will halve in value within a short space of time.
If you’re going to look around Victoria Leeds shopping centre at luxury watches then you will have plenty of choice when it comes to parking in Leeds so you won’t have far to walk.
