You cannot separate Travelport from the world travel trade. This technology giant stays up-to-date with the changing times by constantly reinventing, enhancing and upgrading its products in the best possible ways. That is why the multitudes of travel platforms offered at Travelport are matchless when it comes to transparency and ease. Having gained a foothold in over 170 countries, the company already has its name embedded in the world map.
A champion in distribution, technology, payment and other solutions, Travelport is a lifesaver when it comes to the USD 7 trillion worth global travel and tourism industry. Travelport is an invincible part of Middle Eastern travel circuit ever since they entered the markets in 1991. “Middle East is a pivotal market for us. It is a market which is growing consistently year-after-year. The region has a young population, a flourishing intra-regional traffic and also it acts as a bridge between India, Africa and Europe,” says Saab.
Saab, who joined the multinational firm in 2006, elaborates on what makes Travelport’s SmartPoint stand apart from the rest. The company provides an open platform for developers to create solutions for the travel trade with SmartPoint. “SmartPoint is built on an open platform. Hence, we are able to develop new products for the trade that would benefit the trade as well as the consumer,” he says.
With over 500 airline participants in the Travelport system, the firm has come up with a variety of travel solutions over the past 18 months to support the ever expanding industry in this part of the world. Travelport has also been investing in ‘Beyond air’ in which they claim to have unparalleled content for hotel properties.
Last June, Travelport acquired Hotelzon, a UK-based hotel distribution platform, to give smaller properties a much wider market and a global network of travel agents. Saab also talks about the the latest version of SmartPoint and Rich Content and Branding, the products they would be showcasing at ATM.
