Travel Counsellors clocks record sales in January

In a recent development, Travel Counsellors has announced a record month of sales for January, with the value of its holiday bookings topping AED220 million for the first time ever.

January included the company’s top-performing sales days since it was established in 1994, with the value of bookings exceeding the AED14m mark for the first time in the firm’s history on two consecutive Fridays. This was followed by a bookings boost on the final day of the month when Travel Counsellors exceeded AED14m in sales for the third time, with 8 out of its 10 best ever sales days now in January 2017.

The most active day for Travel Counsellors in terms of volume and value was Friday 20 January, which saw 1,402 holiday bookings at a combined value of AED15.6m.

These figures represent a 37 per cent increase in UAE sales and an 18 per cent increase globally over the same period last year.

Travel Counsellors CEO Steve Byrne comments; “This is obviously really exciting news for the business and the industry as a whole, and is a promising sign that people are looking optimistically towards 2017. We have been focused on supporting our 1,600 Travel Counsellors globally throughout the busy booking period, so they are able to focus on providing the very best service and care to their customers. This is where they excel and why we are confident our strong bookings will continue.”

Just under 40% of sales are now being made through the company’s in-house booking system Phenix, which gives Travel Counsellors the ability to package tailor-made itineraries whilst being in control of the margin they make. The company believes this has contributed significantly to 330 (20%) of its Travel Counsellors celebrating their best ever month for earnings in January.

This includes Dubai based Travel Counsellor Katie Britt. She comments; “I’m still in shock about how unbelievable my January has been! It’s my best month ever as a Travel Counsellor and my sales are up 270% on this time last year. I think the key is always putting my customers first and treating them like friends, not just business. I’m also tuned into the fact that people want an experience now, not just a holiday, and the itineraries I craft reflect that trend. I’m so proud and excited to see what the rest of 2017 brings for me and my business!”
