Lama Tours was recently in India with its annual road show. The event was marked with the launch of Lama Tours’ Kolkata office followed by a four-city road show in India.

During the event, Lama Tours reiterated the importance of India as a strong feeder market for the UAE. The road show targeted around 1,500 travel professionals and tour operators across India from NewDelhi (April 5), Chennai (April 6), Bangalore (April 7) and Mumbai (April 9).

Strong market

The Indian market is a strong one for the UAE, considering the inclination for travel is growing among Indians year after year. Last year, Dubai alone had 1.5 million visitors, which is a growth of nearly 38 per cent over the same period in 2014. India is also the top market for Dubai after KSA. The footfall in Abu Dhabi is not far behind, as India was also the emirate’s top market in 2015. Indians love to discover and experience new attractions and hotels; more and more Indians are also enjoying UAE as a wedding destination. Last year, Lama Tours organised four large weddings – two in Dubai and two in Abu Dhabi.

With the recent visit of HH Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai to India, we are certain that the relationship between both nations are bound to grow and thrive, especially in tourism and infrastructure development. The air and sea connectivity between UAE and India is also rising and this boosts not only the economies of both nations but also the tourism sector (as seen in the number of visitor arrivals).

“India is a very important market for us and contributes to about 40 per cent of our business. We have seen the rapid growth in Kolkata and are addressing this demand. We are very positive and confident with this venture and anticipate achieving greater heights for us,” said Kulwant Singh, CEO and Managing Director for Lama and Carfare Groups.
